Midwestern Independent Family Farms

Regenerative agriculture is a holistic farming approach that focuses on making the land healthier over time. Instead of sustaining the current rate of degradation created by conventional agriculture, it aims to regenerate topsoil, promote diverse plant and animal life, and create a thriving ecosystem. This approach to farming involves practices like rotational grazing cattle in a natural way, no tilling, and eliminating the use of chemicals. By doing this, regenerative agriculture not only helps the land become more fertile but also supports the well-being of plants, animals, and the people who rely on them. By implementing these practices Thousand Hills is ensuring the land stays healthy and productive for future generations.

At Thousand Hills, we’re passionate about regenerative agriculture, a holistic farming approach that prioritizes the health of the environment, animals, and ultimately our customers. Our regenerative agriculture practices support biological diversity by creating thriving ecosystems above and below the soil, improved watershed, carbon sequestration, and humane animal welfare where the cattle can graze open pastures for their entire lives expressing their natural behaviors.

Our company humble beginnings date back to 1921 when Chester Coborn opened a small produce market on Broadway Street in Sauk Rapids, MN, where local customers could buy locally grown fruits and vegetables from Central Minnesota growers. Today, Chester’s legacy lives on. We’re still passionate about selling the freshest homegrown produce and locally made products. We’re proud to support local growers, farmers, and companies that produce many of your household favorites.

Back in 1921, our company began as a local produce market and over 100 years later we stay true to our roots. We live in America’s heartland so we source as much as possible from our local neighbors. Local sourcing brings the freshest products to your table, minimizes carbon emissions, keeps dollars local and is simply the right thing to do. Try our local apples from Pepin Heights Farm in Lake City, MN, local peppers and cabbage from Riverside Farms in Elk River, MN, potatoes, corn and squash from Stoneybrook Farm in Foley, MN along with dozens of other family farms to bring you the freshest possible produce – only a day’s drive (or less!) away! *Not all featured farms deliver to all locations.
